Trent Peterson is a custom saddle maker that builds light weight saddles built for the mountains and packing equipment that is tested to its full extent as being a professional packer.
"Everything I build or make, we use. I donate 3% of all my sales from my saddle shop to the National Ataxia Foundation to help fund research into the disease that killed my father, my grandfather, and possibly one day myself. Ive been a professional packer since 2005 when I lead my first string of mules into the North Cascades, and started packing in the Eastern Sierra in 2016 after my wife and I moved here permanently. And in 2017 I completed a ride from Mexico to Canada with 3 mustangs I adopted from the wild as untouched animals, and spent 8 months training them for the journey. At the end of the ride, 2 of the mustangs were auctioned off and I raised little over $20,000 for the foundation.
My wife has been packing in the Eastern Sierra for the last 16 years. As part of our passion for packing and our way of life, we teach weekly packing classes and put on full 3 day packing clinics where we will give you the tools to be able to safely go out into the backcountry with your own equine. This year we’ve taken the big step of purchasing our own pack station and will be offering full week long packing schools along with our custom made pack trips.
Along with packing, and saddle making my wife and I are trainers and we specialize in starting and training untouched mustangs and mules. We train them for both the sands of the arena, to the granite of the Sierra."
The pad that set the standard!
I love the 5 star pad because my horse is much more comfortable and he doesn't sweat as bad under the pad. It makes my saddle stay in position with no slipping and also I don't have to tighten my cinch as tight because it keeps the pressure more even.
I struggled with saddle fit with my mare for almost a year. After spending thousands of dollars trying to find a right saddle/saddle pad combo, I finally tried a 5 star and was immediately hooked. My mare is running harder, clocking better, and is overall happier and more relaxed.
I bought my first 5 Star pad over 15 years ago. I have had several over the years. When I started looking to replace it and become a dealer I inquired to everyone I could about what was the finest saddle pad made. I always heard about this little outfit in Arkansas called 5 Star.
I love your 5 Star Pads. Keep up the good work! My horses and I are depending on you.
I love my 5 star pad! It is so soft and I feel has the best protection for my horse's back. We trail ride and barrel race in ours! My mare's back doesn't seem as hot and sweaty using our 5 star compared to other saddle pad's I have used. Only the best for my girl!
